Account Manager

The Role
Account Managers are responsible for the successful delivery of projects through the entire project life cycle, working with cross-functional, multi-project teams to ensure projects are delivered on-time and on budget according to defined scope, timeline and cost parameters. The Account Manager plans, schedules and controls all project activities, applying brand, technical, and managerial skills to deliver against project requirements, while building strong relationships with clients and teams.
Account Managers are flexible and creative in their approach whilst working to best practices and processes; they should be focused, results driven, persuasive and have strong negotiating skills.
Your role will require you to lead all delivery elements of the account by being hands on across numerous projects, playing a client-facing role in ensuring the day-to-day work is delivered on brief, to exceptional quality, on time and on budget.
This is a client facing role – you will be a point of contact for the client and responsible for building a positive relationship – both internally within Gather, working closely with other disciplines and externally partnering with clients to ensure that Gather always adds value, delivering the highest quality work.
You will be adept at multi-tasking – actively juggling multiple work-streams and stakeholders for successful delivery.
You will be a people person and can get the most out of those around you – whether they be in your own team, creative, consultancy, otther internal teams or clients.
Primary tasks and responsibilities:
- Working with an Account Director, you will scope and plan projects: create proposals, statements of work and project plans; including estimating, tracking and updating documentation through the project life cycle.
- Responsible for ensuring that projects are delivered on time and to budget.
- Ownership of smaller client projects and associated deliverables.
- Develop long-term relationships with clients.
- Mobilise the project team (attending kick-offs and contributing to internal resourcing processes).
- Actively plan time on projects in line with budgets and booking resources via our Operations Director.
- Facilitate collaboration within internal teams, including setting up meetings and confirming actions.
- Check amends and copy capture of typeset proofs.
- Define responsibilities and allocation of tasks with the project team.
- Identify, manage and monitor project risks, issues and assumptions.
- Effective client communication through the course of the project delivery.
- Be a strong collaborator and negotiator through the project.
- Acknowledge all client requests in a timely fashion, considering appropriate response with the wider team (as needed).
- Communicate project requirements clearly to ensure clarity and unity amongst the team.
- Weekly status reporting to both internal and external stakeholders e.g., team, client, line manager, Account Director.
- Track the project actual time and expenses incurred.
- Accurate understanding of revenue forecast across all your projects to help the Account Directors accurately complete the financial forecast.
- Keep a close eye on your projects ensuring that you’re aware of all activity and approvals.
- Ability to juggle multiple projects and manage and prioritise your time.
- Quality assurance – Account Managers are responsible for making sure the right resources have reviewed and signed off work before it is sent to the client.
- Account Managers are to make sure that all projects follow the approved Gather process.
- Responsible for managing clear client feedback, team comms and implementation.
- Responsible for obtaining client sign-off on key project deliverables.
Skills and experience
Account Managers are required to scope and manage all aspects of the project throughout the life cycle. Flexible and willing to learn, our Account Managers are delivery-focused with a desire to deliver the highest quality work, and will need to possess the below skills and experience:
- Minimum two years working in a corporate communications agency
- Good project planning and documentation skills
- Impeccable attention to detail
- Good problem-solving skills
- Experience in managing third party suppliers
- Experience with either annual reporting, corporate comms or brand work
- Digital project experience an advantage
- Comfortable working in an agency environment and collaborating as part of a team
- Demonstrable experience of successful delivery of project budgets valued £75k+
- Confident with client management and able to effectively represent the company in client interactions
